Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go Breakfast Smoothie

I named this smoothie "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" for two reasons:

1. The song was stuck in my head and I was dancing and singing to it while creating this
2. The citrus is so refreshing and awakening! It gives you a burst of energy that is needed to take on the day. 
3. I added the organic orange rind because the rind actually has components that encourage detoxification of your liver! This begins the detoxification process early in the morning, which will help your liver out for the rest of the beautiful day.

Enough chit-chat. Go make your smoothie!

Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go Breakfast Smoothie


1/2 frozen banana
1/3 C frozen pineapple pieces
1 C packed greens
1/2 fresh orange
1 tsp orange rind (make sure it's from an organic orange to reduce pesticides)
6 brazil nuts
1/4 C kefir ** eliminate if vegan
1 tsp citrus fish oil ** eliminate if vegan. The fish oil is not necessary, but I highly advise it because it is DELICIOUS and adds healthy omega 3 which is necessary for cognitive health. It is also a fat, which helps to slow down the rate at which the sugars from the fruit is absorbed. If vegan, try to find an omega 3 sourced from algae!
1/4 C fiber (flax, chia, and hemp seeds)
1 scoop unflavoured plant based protein, or whey 
Enough milk or milk alternative (I use almond milk) to cover the ingredients

Looking at all of these yummy and nutritious ingredients, I really have no idea how it all fits in my little blender.. but I'm not asking any questions. It works, therefore I'm happy!


Add all ingredients in the blender, and blend until smooth!


  1. Any particular greens? Which is the best...spinach obviously what else?? Any suggestions?
