Chaga Bone Broth Hot Chocolate

People think I'm totally crazy when I tell them the ingredients in this elixir.

It's the same reaction all the time.
"Sorry, WHAT kind of hot chocolate...?"

I get it. The ingredients sound fucked up when you dissect them all apart.
But the beauty about cooking and playing with ingredients and flavours in your kitchen, is that you can combine ingredients that would otherwise be deemed as an abnormal pairing, and create something totally awesome.

That's why everyone falls in love with cooking isn't it?
It's science! It's witchcraft! It's magic!
Regardless, combining odd ingredients into a super delicious drink is super cool and I always feel a sense of pride when I do it.

Bone broth is FULL of awesome things that promote optimal health and longevity.
Proline, glycine, glutamine (in total, bone broth contains 19 essential and non essential amino acids), magnesium, calcium, collagen and glutathione to name a few of those awesome things!

Some of the most recognized benefits of bone broth are:
· ability to treat leaky gut
· reduce food intolerances and allergies
· improve joint health
· support cognitive function
· boost the immune system

Bone broth isn't the shit you buy in a tetra pack or can in the soup isle.
I'm talking about homemade, 12-24 hour simmers to suck out as much of the good stuff as possible.

I literally feel healthy and loved when I sip a cup of bone broth.

I believe in nourishing your body with food.
Food is something we need to consume daily for optimal health.
Everything you choose to consume can either fuel your body,
or can contribute to disease or inflammation within the body.
I also believe in nourishing your body with love.
I believe that love is one of the strongest energies and emotions, and love can physically change the molecules in your body into a thriving state, or a dead state.
The reason why I chose to fuel my body with healthy foods,
is because I'm actually choosing to love myself.
And loving myself through making nourishing food for myself an the people I love,
is the way I want to live the rest of my life.

So love yourself and enjoy sipping!

Chaga Bone Broth Hot Chocolate

I added a little bit of coconut whipped cream and sprinkled some cinnamon on top

Ingredients:

2 C beef bone broth
1 C coconut milk, canned and full fat
1 C brewed chaga tea
1/2 C almond milk
2 1/2 - 3 tbsp raw cocoa powder
3 tbsp raw honey or maple syrup
1/4 tsp cardamom
1/2 tsp tsp nutmeg
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp maitake powder
10 drops stevia (or to taste)
1/4 tsp himalayan salt

**The maitake mushroom powder is optional, however to give your elixir and extra boost of immunity strength and brain food, it's highly recommended.

Directions:

In a medium sauce pan, add the bone broth, coconut milk, chaga tea and almond milk. Over low-medium heat, bring to a hot temperature, just below a simmer. Whisk in remaining ingredients, adjusting seasoning to your preference.
